2011 outstanding citizen of the year will be presented at Daffodil Day

2007 Bell Buckle Outstanding Citizen of the Year


The first ever recipient of the Bell Buckle Outstanding Citizen of the Year summarizes everything that is special and important to our community. This person has given of herself for the benefit of Bell Buckle and never at all for the accolades that she so deserves. The term “tireless worker” is a term that is taught at The Webb School as one of the most important character attributes that a person can have. Our Citizen of the Year embodies that term and is a role model for all who live here and all who treasure this town.

The nominations for this recipient were like fans at their favorite sporting event. Her efforts were cheered on as the fruits of her labors were seen by the spectators. Her successes were bragged on as her projects reached fruition and the benefits of her labors could be savored by all of Bell Buckle and beyond.

Of all the nominations, her husband summed her up most beautifully. He noted her number one strength as JOY. If you can live with someone fifty years and have them be able to say that about you, then you are truly a point of light. For her single greatest contribution: she gives untiring contributions to most everything done here in the village. Her labors of love include the Bell Buckle Park, the Town of Bell Buckle’s new web site, the Chamber of Commerce and Park’s web sites, Bell Buckle Beautification, the Bell Buckle Tree Board, chairman of today’s Daffodil Day, and solid volunteer for all Bell Buckle’s events. She is distinguished for her flawless character, untiring volunteer spirit, joyful countenance, impeccable character, and an ambassador for the Town of Bell Buckle at any time needed. And her husband also notes that she is a good cook!

It is my greatest honor to be the one to present this award, especially to this person. This is a person I’ve worked with closely as have so many others. This is a person our entire community has looked up to. This is a person that has earned the respect of the citizens of Bell Buckle. This is a person whose opinion so many of us has sought. This is a person who everyone in Bell Buckle knows is first class. This person is
